This Wednesday, I’m waiting on…
The time of our immortality is at hand.
An undeciphered language in Crete. A rash of mysterious disappearances, from Bolivia to Japan. An ancient warning at the ruins of Babel. And a new spiritual leader, who claims that human history as we understand it is about to come to an end.
Seventeen-year-old Daniel Calder’s world falls apart when a freak accident brings personal tragedy—and he discovers there’s a link between the accident and a wildly successful new cult, the Seraphim. Catapulted into a violent struggle for humanity’s past and future, he’s not even sure who the enemy is, or if he’s battling a phantom that doesn’t exist. But as Daniel puts his life on the line, he is forced to conclude that our very survival as a species will depend on who, and what, we choose to believe.
I’m cheating this week. When looking for an upcoming release to feature this week, I found that The Fire Seekers was already available as a pre-release for me (thanks Amazon Prime!). However, I won’t get to read it until at least next week, so it’s still a valid Waiting on Wednesday post!
This book has me completely hooked just from the jacket. Having grown up in a very religious home, I’m incredibly interested in all things Biblical history (reminiscent of The Da Vinci Code?), and this is no exception. Between the ridiculously awesome cover art, special language skills, crazy religious cults, and mystery surrounding this book, The Fire Seekers is a must-read for me. I’m also really excited to see another YA novel with a male protagonist, because I honestly think there aren’t enough of these. (Don’t get me wrong, there are centuries upon centuries of male POVs, and we NEED strong female MCs, but that doesn’t mean that we should stop writing about men altogether!)
Regardless, I’m stoked for The Fire Seekers. Will you be reading it? What else are you waiting on this Wednesday?
